The Dance and Fitness Studio Appeal

If you are a UK taxpayer your donation could be worth 25% more at no extra cost to you.
I am a UK taxpayer and would like to Gift Aid my donations now and in future. I understand I must pay enough income tax and/or capital gains tax each tax year to cover the amount of Gift Aid that all charities and community amateur sports clubs claim on my donations in that tax year, and I am responsible for paying any difference. Please remember to let us know if your tax status, name or address change or if you wish to cancel your Gift Aid declaration.

Can you help us?
We are fundraising for a dance, yoga and fitness studio for people with learning disabilities, to be built at the Centre. Planning permission has already been granted and we have been busy fundraising with £121,500 already secured. We now need your help! We need to raise a total of £55,100 to make this dream a reality.

Why do we need a Dance and Fitness studio?
People with learning disabilities often face additional physical health challenges and may struggle to participate in and benefit from mainstream exercise classes at gyms and community centres. It is also estimated that the rate of mental health problems amongst people with learning disabilities is double that of the general population.
What will the studio provide?
This new purpose-built facility will provide a dedicated space to offer a range of classes to over 70 people per week, to help improve both physical and mental wellbeing and reduce social isolation. Once established, we will work with our customers to explore the potential to expand classes to include drama, art and singing. These activities will also support the development of physical, sensory and cognitive skills; increase confidence; improve concentration and support positive thinking and emotional wellbeing.
The current situation
We are currently delivering fitness classes from our canteen as a short-term solution. However, classes are gaining in popularity and with the positive feedback and input from our customers, it is becoming increasingly important to establish a dedicated delivery space.

What will the studio look like?
A wooden structure (similar to our existing woodwork workshop), our new studio will be a large open space with a sprung floor to support ease of movement and ensure stress is not put onto people’s joints, with a mirrored wall so people can observe and improve their posture and movements during class.
