Ferring Country Centre: a community garden centre in West Sussex
At Ferring Country Centre, we believe in the power of horticulture to bring people together and create positive outcomes. The therapeutic value of gardening and horticultural pursuits is well-known, and we provide a wide choice of activities to interest and stimulate the people with learning disabilities in our care. It is a matter of great pride that we endeavour to grow top-quality plants for our valued customers, and by shopping with us you are contributing directly to the mission of our charity. This makes us a little different to other garden centres – all profits are re-invested to support the important work we do.
What’s on offer at
your local garden centre
Our mission
Our mission is to provide people with learning disabilities with meaningful experiences in a caring environment. In the garden centre, we provide a realistic work setting in which they can flourish, acquiring horticultural skills and knowledge, as well as improving their self-confidence and well-being. We also have an allotment area for those interested in growing fruit and vegetables. In time, they develop transferrable works skills, which may help those keen on finding a paid job or voluntary position.
Quality plants
‘Quality and Choice at Sensible Prices’
Our garden centre offers a wide range of quality plants for every season, including shrubs, roses, perennials, herbs, and climbers – as well as an extensive choice of patio, basket and bedding plants. Our hanging baskets are famous in the local area for their quality and value, and we also offer a bespoke refill service – just bring in your old baskets and containers and we’ll fill them with beautiful, vibrant plants. Best of all, the money you spend goes back into supporting our charity. Most of our stock is grown on site and no pesticides are used.
Our knowledgeable and friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice. If you need help with deliveries or carrying heavy items to your car, we are here to oblige – please ask!
Houseplants & houseplant repotting ORNAMENTAL POTS AND HORTICULTURAL SUNDRIES
A new introduction is a range of quality houseplants we are selling in the garden centre shop, with an extensive collection of decorative containers in which to display them. Are your houseplants outgrowing their pots? Let us repot them, saving you the hassle – and the mess! Just bring in your plants – but please ensure they are pest-free – and we’ll take care of the rest.
We sell a fantastic range of ornamental pots, including lightweight pots which are easy to move around the garden, as well as a large range of glazed and terracotta pots. We are always happy to plant up pots for our customers. We also carry a useful collection of horticultural sundries, including canes, hanging baskets and brackets, tree ties, plant labels and trellis.
Compost, WELL-ROTTED mANURE & WOODCHIPS
We sell a variety of retail compost products, as well as wood chippings and ornamental bark for mulches and decorative effect. One of our most popular products is our well-rotted manure, produced from our own animals. Perfect for increasing soil fertility in vegetable beds and borders or as a spring mulch around roses, shrubs and trees, we sell our manure in bags which we can deliver to your door or allotment patch. All our composts, which include grow bags, can also be purchased from our online garden centre shop.
Delivery and gardening service
We offer local delivery on all orders over £30 to postcodes BN11, BN12, BN13, BN14, and BN16. If you’re in BN15 or BN17, we deliver for a small surcharge of £5. We can also quote for deliveries outside these postcodes. Whether you need compost, plants, or anything else, we’ll bring it to your door — just place your order and we’ll do the rest!
Gardening service
We are also available to undertake small gardening projects or jobs. Please get in touch about your requirements and we will be happy to provide a competitive quote.

Such a precious place for us, be sure to look up the glories of this place before visiting so you can fully appreciate it. We’ve been returning customers for years now. A lovely little farm with the most welcoming staff. A wonderful kids park, soft play and cafe. You can even grab a few plants! We cannot rate this place highly enough. We always feel welcomed and the staff seem very happy and obliging. For the wee ones it’s a great day out, you can take your own picnic if you like and stretch out a long day. We’ve done little and long visits and it’s simply the best little treasure of a place.Posted on Heather MacPhersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was a lovely little find! We had a wonderful time. Everything is clean and well looked after. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful. There's lots to see and do, all at a very reasonable price! We had lunch in the café, generous portions of freshly made tasty food. Will absolutely be back again. Thank you all for a great day ☺️Posted on Jennifer MorrisonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nice little farm. There are a variety of different animals to see and the playground is excellent. There are some building blocks to play with near a little hut outside too. The soft play is very small but for £1.50 it was great for my 2.5 year old.Posted on Wesley BatesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. And will we be doing back?.Yes very soonPosted on J MTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a lovely time at Ferring Country Centre. Such a great space for all the animals they have there. There’s a children’s outdoor playground, as well as an indoor soft play area for a small additional cost. The service in the cafe and food was really good too. We will be back again. Thanks.
