Junior Keeper Experience

Give young animal lovers the chance to step into the boots of a real farm keeper this summer.

Our Junior Keeper Experience is designed for ages 8–15, offering a hands-on, behind-the-scenes morning caring for our animals alongside the Ferring Country Centre team. From feeding and grooming to helping with daily cleaning and care, participants will get a real taste of life on the farm in a safe and supportive environment.

Each session focuses on different animals, giving a unique experience every time—perfect for those who love being outdoors, getting stuck in, and learning something new.

Your experience also includes an exclusive Ferring Country Centre Keeper t-shirt to take home, along with a 10% café voucher to enjoy after your session.

Each Junior Keeper will receive a lanyard for the day, helping our team ensure a safe and supported experience. This will include their name, date of birth, two emergency contacts, and any allergies.

What They’ll Do

• Prepare feed and help feed the animals
• Groom and care for selected animals
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining enclosures
• Learn about animal care and daily farm routines

The experience also includes entry for one accompanying adult, to enjoy the farm during the keeper experience.

Session Dates & Themes

• Thursday 30th July – Rabbits & Guinea Pigs (+ Goat Feeding)
• Thursday 13th August – Alpacas & Pigs (+ Goat Feeding)
• Thursday 27th August – Pigs & Guinea Pigs (+ Goat Feeding)

Session Details

• Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm
• Price: £70 (includes 1 Junior Keeper + 1 accompanying adult ticket)
• Group size: Maximum of 6 children per session
• Age: 8–15 years

Important Information

• Please wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for farm work
• The experience involves walking and uneven terrain
• SEND participants are very welcome, and carers are free (ID badge must be shown)
• Additional spectators are welcome but must purchase a standard farm entry ticket
• We will contact you ahead of your visit to confirm t-shirt size and information for the lanyard
• Children under 12 will have to have a parent/ guardian present with them at all times.
