our Animals

Alpaca

We have three male alpacas at Dales farm. Gordon (black), Gin (white), and liquorice (chestnut). Our Alpacas are cheeky, humorous and loveable characters! They like nothing more than a shower with a hose in the summer to cool down, sometimes you might even see Gordon inside the water trough taking a bath!

Donkey

Jimmy is a miniature Donkey and Dolly is a standard donkey. Donkeys are very sociable animals and form strong bonds. Dolly and Jimmy are the best of friends and you will often see them playing together in the field.

Goat

We have seven African pygmy goats. These goats are miniature in size and are extremely agile on their hooves. Known as ‘browsers’, goats will spend over eight hours a day foraging for branches, shrubs, shoots, grasses and leaves

Guinea pig

We currently have 10 guinea pigs on Dales Farm. We keep them in small groups as they are very social animals. They use a range of vocalisations to communicate to one another and with humans. You will hear them wheeking loudly and waiting at the front of their houses at dinner time.

Rabbits

Here on Dales farm we have 8 rabbits. We keep them in bonded pairs as they are social animals and prefer to be with other rabbits. Rabbits teeth never stop growing so it is important for the to eat plenty of hay and have objects to chew on to keep their teeth healthy.

Horse

We have 14 horses in our riding school. Our horses are highly sociable creatures that enjoy living in small herd groups. They live out in the fields during the night and come into the stables during the day.

Pigs

We have two Oxford Sandy and Black sows, called Buffy and Willow. Our girls love nothing more than belly scratches, sunbathing and relaxing in their wallow during the warmer months. Pigs are considered to be some of the smartest domesticated animals and are able to learn new skills quickly.

Shetland Pony

We have four Shetland ponies at Dales Farm called Charlie, Tinkerbelle, Pixie and Mango. Mango and Pixie were donated by our Patron, Georgina, Duchess of Norfolk in 2019. Shetland ponies are the smallest breed of pony found in Britain. They are a very hardy, intelligent breed who are known for their lively personalities.
We’re open to the general public daily:
