Frequently asked questions

Volunteering at Ferring Country Centre means that you could really make a positive difference to adults with learning disabilities, meet new people, offer skills or gain skills and have fun too! We have a variety of opportunities to volunteer across our centre. These include helping our day service, riding school, farm, garden centre and café and visitors centre.

Who can volunteer?
Applicants must be 12 years old or above. Some roles specify that applicants need be over 16 years or over 18 years old. All applications are subject to two references and applicants who are 16 years old or over will need to have a DBS check in order to volunteer.

Check the available roles on our website, then complete the online application form. If you would prefer a hard copy then please contact
volunteers@ferringcountrycentre.org or phone 01903 245078 ext 701.

We appreciate all offers of support and each volunteering opportunity may differ. Some will only require a few hours and some will need more.
We will process your application and invite you in to discuss the role further. This may involve a practical activity. If successful we will then begin the volunteer induction process. Due to the volume of applications that we receive we may not always be able to offer volunteering opportunities to everyone. However, you may like to consider re applying for a different role.
Experience needed depends on the role. We will provide training where appropriate. Each volunteer advert on the website will specify if skills are required.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the Volunteer team if you have any further questions at volunteers@ferringcountrycentre.org or 01903 245078 ext. 701

All volunteers will need to supply 2 references and we will conduct an enhanced DBS check to anyone over the age of 16.  Unfortunately, we can not accept volunteers without these checks, as we are a centre for vulnerable adults.

We’re open to the general public daily:
Monday to Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm  Sunday and Bank Holidays 10:00am - 4:00pm
